About

In addition to teaching as an adjunct for community colleges in Oregon and California, I currently serve as teaching learning center coordinator, online English faculty mentor, and community-based learning coordinator. I have taught composition and rhetoric at private research institutions, small liberal arts colleges, state universities, and community colleges. In recent years, I have served as co-editor of an accreditation self-study, interim grants officer, and academic department assessment coach. Combining my passions for professional development and social justice, I continue to seek the sweet spot between digital humanities and online community-based learning.

    Projects

    • Currently, I am preparing to co-teach our Community-Based Learning faculty cohort as well as our shorter “CBL 101” workshop.
    • In my role as online English faculty mentor, I am creating a “sampler” of exemplar course components to encourage my colleagues to reconsider their older class shells and revise with updated best practices.
    • As a Teaching Learning Center coordinator, I am transforming our traditional annual spring faculty inservice to a Pecha Kucha style faculty showcase event highlighting accomplishments funded through a one-time allocation of $600,000 for professional development for both FT and PT faculty.
    • In collaboration with my TLC colleagues across the district, I am radically revising our traditional fall PT in-service with a set of late summer institutes focused more deeply on key areas (syllabi and classroom management, online learning and LMS, assessment and contract grading, as well as student engagement).
    • Currently, I also serve on a number of committees, including the PCC Learning Assessment Council, Housing and Food Insecurity Task Force, and Instructional Social Media Policies Work Group.

    Upcoming Talks and Conferences
