About

Dr. Joydeep Chakraborty has been recently awarded a PhD degree by Bankura University, India. His area of research is post-9/11 American poetry. His notable articles include ‘“Violence Has Changed Me”: Private Trauma and Identity Crisis in Post-9/11 American Poetry’ (published in Appropriations, xii [2017] and indexed in the MLA International Bibliography), ‘Contemporary Postmodernism: Postmodern Features in Post-9/11 Poetry’ (published in IJMAS, vol. 05, no. 02, 2019; and indexed in the MLA International Bibliography), and ‘Hallucinations in Post-9/11 American Poetry: Trauma and Beyond’ (published in the prestigious British journal Critical Survey, vol. 33, no. ¾, 2021). He also won the MLA Annual Convention Travel Grant 2021, and the MLA Graduate Student Lounge Door Prize for his thesis presentation at the MLA Annual Convention 2021. One of his papers, ‘Hospitality in Post-9/11 American Poetry: From Multiculturalism to Post-multiculturalism,’ has been presented at the annual conference of British Association for American Studies in April, 2022, at the University of Hull, UK. Another paper ‘Racial Violence in Contemporary American Poetry: From Explicit Violence to Micro-aggression’ was presented by him at the conference Racial Violence: The American Hi(story), organized by Global Institute for Research, Education & Scholarship, based in the Netherlands, in July, 2021. His forthcoming article ‘“To Say What Could Not Be Said”: Crisis and Post-9/11 Meta-poetry’ will be published by Critical Survey, winter issue, 2023. Moreover, he is a commissioned book reviewer of Journal of American Studies, published by Cambridge University Press.
