    The Department of Political Science, in collaboration with the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (CREES), invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professorship at the University of Kansas.

    We seek applications from scholars specializing in international relations, foreign policy, international security, or cybersecurity whose research illuminates Russia and Eurasia’s global influence and situates the region in an international context. Candidates are expected to contribute to CREES’s interdisciplinary intellectual community and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies as well as political science. In addition, candidates are expected to take part in standing committees in political science and international relations. The position requires the successful candidate to teach 2 courses per semester. Teaching assignments will include existing courses in Russian and Eurasian foreign policy, Russian and Eurasian politics, and the opportunity to develop courses in the candidate’s own areas of expertise. In a continuing effort to enrich its academic environment and provide equal educational and employment opportunities, the university actively encourages applications from members of underrepresented groups in higher education. The successful candidate must be eligible to work in the U.S. by the start date of the appointment.
    Requirements: 1) A PhD in political science or a related field. Candidates should have their PhD in hand by July 31, 2021. 2) Teaching experience, demonstrated by evidence of successful teaching and/or plans for future courses. 3) Development expertise on Russia and Eurasia, demonstrated by dissertation chapters, working papers, or publications of relevance to the region.

As a result, applicants will be presented the following question at the time of application (response must be within 4,000 characters or less): · Please describe your experience, approach or methodologies to create and implement inclusive teaching and advising practices, pedagogical techniques and course materials to create an inclusive classroom environment.
