    W2/W3 in International History and/or Historical Peace and Conflict Studies

    The University of Cologne is looking for a candidate with a distinguished international record of scholarly publications and research in 19th and 20th century international history and/or historical peace and conflict studies. The applicant is furthermore expected to teach beyond this field in general degree courses of the History Department with a focus on the 19th and 20th century.

     
    If nominated as a full professor (W3), another key area of the successful candidate is expected to be in international law, which would also entail close research cooperation with the Institute for International Peace and Security Law located at the Faculty of Law of the University of Cologne.
    It is intended to appoint a full professor (W3) to the position. Yet, applications for a W2 (associate professor) are welcomed.

     
    Applicants will be hired in accordance with § 36 of the University Law of the State of North-Rhine Westphalia. Therefore the applicant must have completed studies with a university degree and a PhD, bring pedagogical experience, and have outstanding qualifications in scientific work and performances, which have been achieved in the context of an assistant professorship, a habilitation or as research associate.
