    The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences in the University of Illinois at Chicago seeks to recruit an exceptional scholar who can provide effective and visionary leadership as the Head of the Department of Political Science.

    The Head is the chief administrative officer of the department with responsibility for instructional programs and for administrative, budgetary, promotion, and recruitment matters. Political Science at UIC has benefited from the presence on campus of the Great Cities Institute, the Institute for the Humanities, the Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy, and other interdisciplinary venues. The ideal Head will work effectively with key units within LAS, the UIC community, and the Chicago metropolitan area to enhance the mission of the Department, the College, and the University.Located in the heart of one of the world’s great cities, the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is the city’s only Carnegie Research 1 public university. UIC has 30,000 students, 15 colleges, a law school, a hospital and a health sciences system. The Department of Political Science has 17 tenured, tenure-track, and clinical faculty, approximately 350 undergraduate majors and minors, 10 M.A. students, and 45 Ph.D. students.
