    The Munk School of Global Affairs at the University of Toronto invites applications for a teaching-stream position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, in the field of Peace, Conflict, and Justice. The appointment will begin on July 1, 2018.

    The School seeks a scholar with an emerging record of exceptional teaching and pedagogical research, with experience and a demonstrated commitment to pedagogical enquiry and teaching innovation. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in any field, with a focus on peace, conflict, and justice, by date of appointment or shortly thereafter.

    Evidence of excellence in teaching is necessary, as demonstrated through strong letters of reference, teaching evaluations, and the teaching dossier also submitted here as part of the application. Candidates should also provide evidence of pedagogical research of an internationally competitive calibre, as evidenced by publications in leading journals in the field, presentations at significant conferences, and strong endorsements by referees.

    The successful candidate will be expected to be committed to both undergraduate and graduate education. Applicants should also show well-articulated and innovative pedagogical practices and research and teaching interests that speak to the broad field of global peace, conflict, and justice. Areas of specialization could include post-conflict labour markets, poverty and inequality as drivers of conflict, and the effects of economic inequality. The School is particularly interested in a candidate with interests in the global south.

    The successful candidate will be appointed in the Munk School of Global Affairs. The Trudeau Centre for Peace, Conflict and Justice hosts an undergraduate program that attracts outstanding students. The successful candidate would be expected to teach in the Peace, Conflict and Justice program. Collaboration with colleagues in disciplinary departments of the University of Toronto is encouraged.

    Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
