    Summary of Position
    Oversight and overall planning for the Honors program and curriculum and Center for the Support of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships (CSURF). The Director/Associate Dean is committed to enriching, directing and supporting a growing high-quality Honors program while strengthening and sustaining a diverse Honors community among UNCW’s students, faculty and staff.

    Minimum Requirements
    Successful candidate should have a record of active scholarship and effective teaching, and be tenured or eligible for tenure at the rank of Associate Professor.

    • An appreciation for

    ○ Honors education and the distinctive qualities it brings to the university at large.
    ○ preparing students to be successful global citizens.
    ○ building a diverse and inclusive Honors community.
    • Experience with
    ○ working with donors and sharing the fundraising vision of the College (in partnership with Advancement) with external constituents.
    ○ initiating/ development of new programs and curriculum.
    ○ advocating for and supporting a robust four-year Honors curriculum across all disciplines.
    ○ working effectively to secure support in an environment where resources are limited.
    • Effective communication skills and the ability to engage all Honors constituents (students, faculty, administrators, and community partners) in maintaining the highest standards of academic excellence
    • Passion for, and values that embrace a holistic and student-centered approach to education
    • A commitment to faculty-mentored undergraduate research, applied learning and creative scholarly experiences

    The Honors College attracts and retains academically talented students, offering a powerful learning experience by encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and independent work skills, that together contribute to creating a community of honors scholars on campus. The College is committed to offering opportunities to students as they pursue their academic passions in college. The vision of the program is to encourage and support life-long learning, including a global perspective.
