    The Department of History at The University of Chicago invites applications for a beginning tenure-track assistant professorship in the history of Spain and the Spanish American empire in the eighteenth century. The department is particularly interested in candidates whose work addresses questions of Atlantic political economy, but all research topics will receive serious consideration.

    The appointment may begin as early as July 1, 2018. Candidates are expected to have the Ph.D. in hand by the start of the appointment. Review of applications will begin on November 20, 2017, and will continue until the position is filled or the search is closed; early submission is encouraged.
