    The UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES) is seeking to recruit a Lecturer specialising in the International Politics of Russia. This post is part of SSEES’s current programme of academic investments and will make a critical contribution to the enhancement of the School’s profile in the discipline. The post-holder will have specialist expertise of the Russian foreign and security policy arena and will undertake cutting-edge research and teaching to explore the dynamics shaping Russia’s international relations.

    The principal duties and responsibilities of the post encompass:

    Planning, developing and undertaking a portfolio of independent and original research, which is aligned, and contribute to the School’s research strategy and objectives. Maintaining a track-record of high-quality peer-reviewed research publications and outputs and present and disseminate research finding at conferences, seminars and other similar events. Contributing to the School’s interdisciplinary research culture and environment and support and contribute to the development, submission and attainment of research grant funding. Planning, developing and delivering high-quality teaching, assessment and feedback at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Jointly supervising postgraduate research students to submission and completion and supervise. Providing academic and pastoral support and advice to undergraduate and postgraduate students serving as a Personal Tutor. Contributing to the planning, development and delivery of short courses, continue professional development and online/blended learning provision such as MOOCs. Undertaking relevant and appropriate administrative and management roles as directed and supported by the Director and contribute to the development and enhancement of SSEES’s international profile in line with the School’s and University’s strategic objectives and priorities.

    For appointment at Grade 8, the post-holder will also:

    Maintain a track-record of internationally-excellent, peer-reviewed publications and outputs. Play a leading role in the planning, development, submission and securing of research grant funding. Lead the supervision of postgraduate research students to timely submission and completion. Make a significant contribution to developing and enhancing the School’s teaching provision and student experience.

    The successful candidate will have a PhD in International Relations or a related discipline and have an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of research into Russia’s international relations and associated areas. You will also have a working knowledge of a language of the region and a developing international research profile in the discipline together with an evolving publication record with evidence of potential to produce world-leading outputs. Experience of contributing to the initiation, planning, development and delivery of research projects and grant applications and experience of engagement and knowledge exchange with academic and non-academic audiences to disseminate and promote research is essential. Delivering teaching, assessment and feedback at either undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels and having excellent communication and presentation skills is also essential. including a high-level of proficiency in English (verbal and written).
