    Position Description: The Department of History at Texas State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Russian and/or Soviet history since 1905. The successful candidate will be expected to teach western and/or world history survey courses and undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate’s area of specialization. The salary is commensurate with experience.

    Required Qualifications: Candidates should demonstrate an active research agenda and a record of scholarship complementing the existing strengths of the department. We seek a collaboratively-minded historian with an interest in engaging with communities and organizations across and outside the university. Participation in departmental programs, service, and governance is expected of the successful candidate. Ph.D. in history or related fields is required by time of appointment.

    Preferred Qualifications: Area of research specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates able to teach courses on Imperial, Soviet, and Eastern European history.
