    Professor of Practice Position in International Affairs
    Syracuse University

     
    The Department of Public Administration and International Affairs at the Syracuse University Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs seeks to fill a Professor of Practice position in the area of international affairs. This is a two year, full time position that has an option for renewal. Incumbent is expected to be on campus or in class at least 80% of the time during the academic year, which runs from mid-August to mid-May. The contract begins August 2017 and runs through May of 2019.

     
    The professor of practice would teach courses related to international relations during each academic year to graduate students studying for degrees in international relations, public administration, and related disciplines. Responsibilities of the position also include advising students on course work and careers, participating in faculty meetings and events, and speaking in other university and external fora.

     
    An ideal candidate will have had a distinguished career as a high-level official in multilateral organizations or in a national diplomatic service with sustained multilateral postings. He/she should have interest in offering course work on international organizations and in specialized areas such as a refugee programs, migration, humanitarian action, food security, sustainable development, human rights, diplomacy, United Nations, or other relevant topics.

     
    The Department of Public Administration and International Affairs at the Maxwell School is home to the world’s first master of public administration program, which is ranked first among more than 250 graduate public affairs programs in the United States and has several top-ranked specialties (U.S. News & World Report). The department is also home to a top-ranked master’s program in international relations (Foreign Policy magazine), as well as several other programs, including a Ph.D. in public administration, executive master’s degrees in public administration and international relations, and a wide range of certificate programs.
