The School of Languages, Linguistics and Film is looking to appoint to a Lecturer in Russian, to deliver teaching and assessment across undergraduate and, as appropriate, taught postgraduate programmes. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop his/her own teaching and research agenda in the field of Russian Studies (for details see below). Duties will include research and publication, convening and teaching undergraduate modules, in the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures and also in the Department of Comparative Literature and Culture, contributing to MA provision as appropriate, designing new modules at UG and PGT level, (co)-supervising PhD students, co-supervision for UG research projects and undertaking administrative roles as required within the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures. You will be able to develop new modules, and adapt existing ones, in line with your specific research strengths. The modules you will teach should include Russian Literature of the nineteenth century, and an aspect of comparative literature, such as fairy tales. We would especially welcome applications from researchers whose work traces connections between Russia and non-European cultures.
