    The Department of Slavic Studies at the Faculty of Philology, Ruhr-University Bochum (Germany), seeks to fill the following position by October 1st 2021:W 3-Professorship for Slavistics, with a focus on Literary Studies

    The successful applicant will research and teach Slavic literary studies with a focus on the literature of the 18th-21st centuries and on Polish cultural studies. Polish literary and cultural studies shall be one, Russian literary studies the other field of expertise. Experiences in interdisciplinary collaboration and in media studies are desirable. As teaching in the Master of Education program is part of the future responsibilities, expertise in teaching methodology is highly desirable.

    The teaching and administrative language is mostly German; therefore, adequate skills in German are required. Moreover, the future applicant is expected to be able to teach in one of the target languages (Polish or Russian).Positively evaluated junior professorship, a habilitation or equivalent scientific achievements, evidence of specific aptitude for academic teaching as well as readiness to participate in the self-governing bodies are mandatory.

    We expect further more:• Strong commitment to academic teaching, • Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary cooperation with other areas of research both inside and outside the Faculty, • International networking, • An established research record in Slavistics with a focus on the areas characterized above, • Proven ability to acquire third-party funding and to develop appropriate research structures, • Ability to work in a team and display cooperative leadership.
