The Global Studies Program and Political Science Department at the National University of Singapore is looking to hire a tenure-track assistant professor in Global Studies. The candidate should be able to develop and teach applied, workshop-style classes for upper level undergraduates in cooperation with NGOs, business, or government agencies. The candidate should also be able to teach research design and basic social science methodology classes in a multidisciplinary setting. Scholars from all social science and humanities disciplines are welcome to apply. However, the applicant’s research profile should be legible to scholars of politics, broadly defined, given that the future tenure home will be the Department of Political Science.

The Department (http://www.fas.nus.edu.sg/pol/) has a strong faculty of about twenty-five scholars working in all areas of political science. Faculty and students can take advantage of resources in the Asia Research Institute, the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, the Yale-NUS Liberal Arts College, and various research institutes including the Asia-Europe Foundation and the Institutes of Asian and South-East Asian Studies as well as other parts of the University. NUS (http://www.nus.edu.sg/) is a leader in research and higher education in Asia and is located in a thriving and liveable global city.

The Department of Political Science and the National University of Singapore are highly research-oriented. The teaching load is three modules year academic year. Compensation is competitive and includes eligibility for annual performance bonuses and salary increments, subsidized housing, medical benefits, and substantial research support.

Applicants should send a CV, a letter detailing their teaching and research interests, and letters from three referees to the Chair of the Search Committee at polbox11@nus.edu.sg.

To ensure full consideration, applications should be received by 15 September 2017.
Please note that only short-listed candidates will be notified.
