The Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies (MPIfG) is seeking a senior researcher in the area of economic sociology to join a research project on private wealth, headed by Professor Jens Beckert. The project is funded by the Leibniz Prize awarded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The position is available from October 1, 2020 or by agreement. For more information about the project, please go to http://www.mpifg.de/projects/leibniz-research-group.

Applicants are required to have completed a PhD in sociology, political science, or economics, and show promise of excellence in their publication record. Expertise in quantitative methods and creating databases is also essential, as is an excellent command of German and English.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to pursue a habilitation and to teach at the International Max Planck Research School on the Social and Political Constitution of the Economy (IMPRS-SPCE, imprs.mpifg.de). The position is available for an initial three-year period, with the possibility of a further three years following successful evaluation.

The deadline for applications is February 28, 2020.
