The IEG is a non-university research institute in the Leibniz Association. It conducts research on the religious, political, social and cultural foundations of Europe in modern times and maintains an international scholarship program ( http://www.ieg-mainz.de ).

    Position profile
In each case, the holders of their own research projects carry out their own research project, which is part of the interdisciplinary research program of the IEG on dealing with the difference in modern Europe (about 1500-1990). With their projects, they are integrated into one of the three research areas of the IEG that will be reoriented from 2018 onwards under the perspectives of “pluralization and marginality”, “sacralization and deacralization” and “mobility and bordering”. Cooperation between religious disciplines and historical sciences as well as digital humanities is of great importance ( http://www.ieg-mainz.de/media/IEG_Forschungsprogramm_2018-2023_dt.pdf ).

In the context of their own research, the post-doctoral students advise international research fellows, conduct scientific events and participate in the further development of the research profile of the IEG.

A scientific further qualification with a relevant teaching activity at a university is compatible with research activities at the IEG.
