    Full Professor in »Digital Governance«
    The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of Full Professor in »Digital Governance« to begin as soon as possible. The position is a tenured W3 position.

    Scientific environment

    TUM is the supporting university of the Hochschule für Politik München (HfP), which is committed to promoting open dialogue between policy makers, society, industry and engineering. The professorship is attached to the HfP and its corresponding department, the TUM School of Governance (GOV). The TUM School of Governance focuses its research and teaching on the interaction between politics, society, and technology, for instance seeking to integrate future technologies into the political dialogue and political decision-making.

    Responsibilities

    The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include research and teaching as well as supporting and training early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Global Governance or Comparative Politics, with an innovative transdisciplinary research agenda in political science, who engages with current issues in digital governance at the national, European or global levels (ideally with a research profile in the area new modes of governance), and who can work in close cooperation with the thematically related departments in the Technical University of Munich, possibly including the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, the Department of Informatics and the Department of Mechanical Engineering. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor´s and master´s programs. We expect the successful candidate to integrate the study of technology with political science in their research and teaching. Inter- or transdisciplinary approaches are therefore considered an asset.

    Qualifications

    We are looking for a candidate with a high international reputation who has demonstrated an outstanding academic record and an internationally recognized research program. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are also prerequisites. We expect the successful candidate to have substantial research experience abroad, the proven ability to put together and to lead cooperative research projects and attract third-party funding, and an empirical or/and theoretical focus on governance in the digital age from an inter- or transdisciplinary perspective.
