    Brooklyn College of the City University of New York (CUNY) invites applications and nominations for a one-year appointment in the rank of Visiting Associate/Full Professor to the Endowed Chair in Women’s and Gender Studies with a starting date of August 2018. The incumbent will be affiliated with the Women’s and Gender Studies Program (WGST) and an appropriate academic department at Brooklyn College.

The College and the Women’s and Gender Studies Program are committed to enhancing and supporting a diverse and inclusive community of students, faculty, and staff.

    The Endowed Chair will be expected to:

    • Teach and advise students in four (4) courses during the year, including the introductory Women’s and Gender Studies course each semester, courses in their specialty and a preferred course in Feminist Theories. Courses may be cross-listed with WGST affiliated interdisciplinary programs (Africana Studies, Children and Youth Studies, Judaic Studies, and Puerto Rican and Latino Studies) and departments in the Humanities, Social Sciences and Arts.

    • Share the commitment of the faculty in building the visibility of the Program by organizing workshops, lecture series and public discussions that involve students, faculty and community members.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • Ph.D. in area(s) of expertise, or equivalent from an accredited institution.
    • Ability to teach successfully, interest in productive scholarship or creative achievement.
    • Ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience in teaching Feminist theory.

    COMPENSATION
    Salary commensurate with experience and credentials. All appointments are subject to financial availability.
