    ERC project: Effects of stakeholder consultations on policymaking

    The Department of Comparative Politics at the University of Bergen is advertising a 4 years Postdoctoral Research position as part of the ERC project CONSULTATIONEFFECTS led by Dr. Adriana Bunea. We invite applications from candidates doing research in one of the following areas: bureaucracies, executive policymaking, regulatory politics, governance, interest groups.

    Research project and duties

    The position is part of the ERC project led by Dr. Adriana Bunea and entitled ‘CONSULTATIONEFFECTS: Effects of stakeholder consultations on the policy inputs, processes and outcomes of executive policymaking.’ The project adopts a comparative perspective and aims to investigate the effects of stakeholder consultations on the policy inputs, processes, outputs and outcomes of executive policymaking in 29 political systems: all 28 EU Member States and the EU polity.

    The Research Fellow will conduct independent and collaborative research as part of and linked to the research project. 25 per cent of the position comprises duties to the Department of Comparative Politics. Further details about the project, research team and duties associated with the position can be obtained from the Project PI, Associate Professor Adriana Bunea at adriana.bunea@uib.no.

    The position comes with excellent opportunities for research and professional development, a salary at pay grade 59 – 62 (code 1352) on the government salary scale upon appointment (equivalent to NOK 515 200 to 544 400 per year), enrolment in the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund and good welfare benefits.

    Qualifications and personal qualities

    The successful candidate is expected to relocate to Bergen, participate in the scholarly activities of the Department, and conform to the regulations that apply to the position.

    The applicant should:

    Hold (or be close to submission and defence of) a PhD in political science, public administration or public policy. It is a condition of employment that the PhD has been awarded before the actual start date of the postdoctoral position.
    Have research experience within one or more research areas such as bureaucracies, executive politics and policymaking, regulatory politics, governance, interest groups.
    Have good or advanced quantitative methods skills and solid experience with data collection, management and analysis.
    Have an interest in comparative research designs.
    Have the ability to work independently and in close collaboration with others.
    Be proficient in both written and spoken English.
