    EUSA Support for Academic Workshops

    In order to further promote US-based academic research on the European Union, the European Union Studies Association (EUSA) will fund one academic workshop in 2019. The aim of this workshop should be to (1) support the next generation of research on Europe in the United States and (2) aim to link together existing research efforts across universities. An additional goal of the workshop is to support the membership of EUSA and to generate high-quality, policy-relevant research output.

    The workshop should be organized as a one-day pre-conference workshop before the 2019 EUSA Biennial Conference (May 9-11, 2019) is held in Denver, Colorado. Ideally, the workshop would be scheduled to take place on Wednesday May 8, 2019 in Denver at the conference hotel. EUSA will provide the meeting space for the workshop. EUSA will provide an additional $10,000 in support of the workshop.

    Call for Proposals

    The European Union Studies Association (EUSA) is calling for proposals to support a pre-conference academic workshop to take place immediately before the 2019 EUSA Conference in Denver, CO. (a condition of the grant which funds the workshop is that the workshop take place in the United States).

    Successful proposals will outline the connection of the workshop to central themes in European integration and/or the transatlantic relationship. Proposals should be as clear as possible as to the intended output of the workshop and possible outreach opportunities.

    Proposals should include:
    (1) a brief summary and outline of the project;

    (2) a list of potential participants and their paper abstracts;

    (3) the academic CVs of the workshop organizers, and;

    (4) a tentative budget.

    Proposals should be submitted electronically to eusa@pitt.edu by October 1, 2018, with “2019 EUSA Workshop Proposal” in the subject line.
