Dissertation and Postdoctoral Fellowships at Liberal Arts Institutions

The Consortium for Faculty Diversity at Liberal Arts Colleges invites applications in all disciplines for dissertation and postdoctoral fellowships at more than 50 nationally ranked liberal arts institutions. Candidates must be U.S. citizens or unconditional permanent residents. Applicants for postdoctoral fellowships must have completed the Ph.D. by July 31, 2019, but not before July 31, 2014.

The Consortium is committed to increasing the diversity of students, faculty members and curricular offerings at liberal arts colleges with a particular focus on enhancing the diversity of faculty members and of applicants for faculty positions. The member institutions of the Consortium for Faculty Diversity have resolved that diversity is defined more broadly than race and ethnicity. The members seek candidates who will contribute to increasing the diversity of member colleges in one or more of the following ways: by increasing ethnic and racial diversity, by maximizing the educational benefits of diversity and/or by increasing the number of faculty members who can and will use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of students.

Recipients of dissertation fellowships will be expected to teach one course per academic year at their host institution and will receive compensation equivalent to the compensation of a starting one-year instructor. Recipients of postdoctoral fellowship will be assigned up to 60% of the teaching load for a full-time faculty member per academic year at the host institution and contribute to other campus activities; they will receive a salary equivalent to that of a full-time, one-year faculty member with comparable qualifications. Mentoring on teaching, scholarship, and professional life at liberal arts colleges will be provided.

Applicants seeking fellowships with mentors who are active in particular research fields are encouraged to visit the websites of the member schools to identify potential hosts and collaborators. Applicants may contact potential mentors with whom they wish to work to alert them to their applications accessible on the CFD website.

Applications are via Interfolio with a deadline of November 15: https://apply.interfolio.com/51069. More information is available on the CFD website: http://www.gettysburg.edu/about/offices/provost/cfd/.
