    Abstract:
    Esther Born traveled to Mexico in the 1930's to photograph modernist architecture in Mexico City. Many of these photographs were published in the periodicals Architectural Record and Shelter, as well as in a monograph titled "The New Architecture in Mexico." The Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA) holds about 250 of Esther Born's photographs as part of its collections. This presentation discusses who Esther Born was, why she went to Mexico, how the photographs came to the CCA, and how the collection can be used today. Presented as part of Imaginando Arte y Arquitectura Mexicana / Imagining Mexican Art & Architecture.
