- Abstract:
- The Shape Effect (SE) represents several unusual phenomena that occur in conical, pyramidal, honeycomb, cavity, interleaving, and some other geometric structures. SE has been studied with test systems based on biological organisms, biochemical reactions, electrochemistry of aqueous solutions, properties of materials, electronic components, and radioactive decay -- SE is an established effect with a large number of academic publications. Their authors offer possible explanations for this effect as a special topology of electromagnetic waves, surface waves, microwave radiation; unusual explanations include de Broglie waves, entropy processes, the Poynting vector, as well as 'yet unknown weak interaction', e.g., as spin-spin processes. SE is widely found in natural conditions -- in biological and geological structures, historical monuments, in architecture, indoors, in various devices, in 'folk practices', etc. The main purpose of this review is to draw attention to various manifestations of SE and provide material for understanding and applying these effects.
