- This book can be understood as autobiographical theology, my attempt, over several decades, to make sense out of my long and intense practice of prayer and meditation in several different religious groups. Having eventually been drawn to the university study of interpersonal communication and human development, I began to see prayer as a slowly evolving conversation with one's Ground of Being (looking inward) and the Divine Presence (looking upward).
