    Abstract:
Patients diagnosed with border line personality disorder (also known as BPD) were historically recognized as being among the most challenging patients. They were considered to be patients who either did not respond well to treatment or, best-case scenario, did not respond well to treatment at all. They could not be assisted by therapy. In the meanwhile, they have significant needs for both physical and mental health care, and their rates of withdrawal from rehabilitation programs are rather high. The relatively recent cognitive-based integrative psychotherapy known as schema therapy is an excellent method for treating borderline personality disorder. This therapy is based on cognitive models (BPD). In comparison to psychodynamic therapy and treatment as usual, its efficacy and cost-effectiveness have been shown by several studies and are now well established. In addition, there is a continuously low rate of patient dropout from treatment, which indicates that schema psychotherapy is highly accepted by patients. The authors of this research provide therapists with a useful guidance for doing schema therapy with individuals suffering from BPD. It provides a conceptual model of borderline personality disorder (BPD), a treatment model, as well as a wealth of approaches and strategies for treating borderline personality disorder patients. It does this by building upon Jeffrey Young's schema mode model and Young's schema therapy, as well as deep insight from Beckian talk restructuring and experiential methods.
