- Abstract:
- The Yezidis have conserved and perpetuated their religion largely via a complex body of customs and oral tradition, rather than in a fixed, canonical text. Variation in ceremonies and doctrine is likely, if not inevitable. Their baptismal rite, through innovation and the discarding of certain features, has evolved within the community’s living memory. The Yezidis' most recent innovations regarding their baptismal praxis have been key for the reintegration of Yezidi women abducted by the Islamic State.
