    Abstract:
Our poster will report on the ongoing development of a web-based software platform for collecting and analysing bio-bibliographic data for literary studies on GDR authors. It will present findings from the evaluation of a query editor that allows domain experts to compose complex queries involving relations between various entities of the underlying data model and constraints on the latter. The editor's development follows a user-centered design methodology, which in our case employed interviews for finding out the information needs, overall technical affinity and experience with query interfaces of German literature domain experts. Based on the findings from the interviews, a prototype of the editor was developed. Its usability and user experience were evaluated, so far, with six domain experts using usability tests and a user experience questionnaire. Up to this point, the evaluation appears promising with respect to the platform’s objective to support domain experts' research interests by providing user interfaces with good usability.
