- Abstract:
- Reviews various suggestions as to the nature of Paul's work according to Acts 18:3, which calls Paul a skenopoios. Paul was involved in the production/manufacture of tents, canopies, and similar goods, and probably worked for private customers, not the Roman army. Contrary to common opinion, it is not possible to establish exactly which material Paul was working with, although use of linen and leather is likely. It is conceivable that Paul used cilicium (goat-hair), but it does not appear likely. It is possible that he was working with more than one of these materials.
