    Abstract:
In March 2020, I volunteered to put together a quick tip sheet for online learning for Brown University's American Studies Department. This two-page sheet was specifically designed for instructors relatively new to online learning who were being required to design classes in this context due to the effects of COVID-19. It was also designed to complement resources created by Brown's instructional designers, who created materials that went into greater detail and served the Brown community at-large. As I've become involved in conversations at other campuses about online learning, I realized that this tip sheet may be of use to other educators who are preparing for the fall 2020 semester. It may also be of use to future researchers and educators interested in approaches to online learning in the immediate wake of the global pandemic.
