    Abstract:
    The following historiographical study is referred to the History of the Portuguese in Venezuela (1959), by Miguel Acosta Saignes, it hill analyze the work of critical and reflective way, both internally and externally, to elucidate its contribution to one of the process greatest historic modern Venezuela, such as immigration, as well as determining the validity of this work and fifty years after its first publication. In the Aragüeñan historians work is based document the arrival, stay and Portuguese influence in Venezuelan territory, from the time of the Conquest, and then participates in various activities during the colonial periods, Independence and the Republic, to the point to intermingle with the native population, so that Portuguese immigration in Venezuela is longstanding. Finally, research Saignes Acosta is one of the first that addresses the issue scientifically, and opens the door to the understanding of migration in Venezuelan history.
