• El café de nadie: aproximaciones al mito

    Abstract:
    The essay analyses the history of the Café Europa and its relevance in the Stridentist movement. It also explores the construction of the Café de Nadie's myth. The difference between these two places —one material, the other mythical— has often been approached in a superficial way. This has caused a semantic mistake in which the discourses created by the Stridentist group —legitimated through its literary and visual production—have been taken as historical truths. The aim of the article is to contribute to a better understanding of Stridentism as a historical avant-garde, by demystifying the Café de Nadie. Stating the differences between history and fiction , we attempt to prevent the mistake of giving the same meaning to two different signifiers. resumen: El ensayo revisa la historia del Café Europa y su relevancia dentro del movimiento estridentista. Al mismo tiempo, examina la construcción del mito del Café de Nadie. La diferencia entre ambos locales —uno mítico, otro material— ha sido muchas veces tratada de modo superficial por la crítica, provocando una confusión semántica en la que los discursos creados desde el estridentismo —legitimados por medio de su producción plástica y literaria— han sido tomados como realidades históricas. El artículo intenta contribuir a una mejor comprensión del estridentismo como vanguardia histórica, desmitificando el Café de Nadie y explicándolo en su justa medida. Al subrayar las diferencias entre la historia y la ficción, se busca evitar que se siga cometiendo el error de otorgar a dos significantes tan distintos un mismo significado.
