- Abstract:
- Japan Times guest editorials and selected letters from 1985-1990 on the Japanese as unique individuals, proposed school year reforms, an elegy for the Showa Emperor, biculturalism, and cultural liberation. Two photos from that period are included at the end: holding a friend's scroll stamped with seals from each of the 88 temples of the Pilgrimage of Shikoku, and standing in front of the Great Buddha statue in Kamakura.
- Notes:
- The author had a minor in journalism and related semester-long internships in the Hawaii State House of Representatives. Free-lance newspaper articles from that time are not included, however; these articles are from when the author was a Japan Times contributor after becoming a college faculty member in 1985.
