    Abstract:
    The aim of this study is to investigate whether library and information service provision changes in commercial law firms that have adopted agile working policies. Whilst there are many management texts on agile working there is very little that looks at libraries, and what there is mainly deals with the academic sector. As agile working is implemented in different ways and to different extents in firms, the research approach chosen was to create a series of case studies based on semi-structured interviews. The resulting stories show differences in how agile working has been implemented in firms, but there are common themes throughout the case studies for the delivery of library and information services. The steady increase of print to online and digital first policies, the reduction of hard copy and of the physical library space, and the need to promote and make the service ‘visible’ to users. The case studies show that none of these changes are purely a result of a move to agile working, but have been given a greater impetus than they had previously. The case studies also show how these firms are dealing with these issues and how what were previously ‘nice to haves’ have now become ‘must haves’.
