    Abstract:
    The presentation documents a community-based history project conducted by students to uncover the details of the reported lynching of Oscar Mack, an African American veteran reported lynched in Orlando. Reported lynched in Orlando on July 17, 1922, by a mob in Orlando, the newspaper accounts of the incidents gave little detail. In 2013, Julian Chambliss (Rollins College) worked with students in his modern African American History course to document the details of the lynching with Curtis Michelson, a former member of Democracy Forum, a social justice group formed to record the details of the 1921 Ocoee Massacre. This presentation document the community engagement project and developments since 2013.
