- This work is actually a doctoral thesis presented in 2003 at the Methodist University of São Paulo. His aim is to present aspects of Wittgenstein's philosophy that are often overlooked: his religious ideas. I do not blame the commentators who reduce it to analytic philosophy, after all, for Wittgenstein what one should be silent about was the most important and one of the things he hated most was the superficiality of certain approaches to religion. In this work I try to retrace his itinerary as a thinker of religion, from the texts that precede the Tractatus to the Observations on the Golden Bough one of his last works. The general perception of my reading is that Wittgenstein subscribes himself to a Kantian project, which is therefore critical, in the sense of separating the tares from the wheat. The point is that wheat is not logic, wheat is religion, which in some ways leads us to the conclusion that Wittgenstein was a religious thinker.
