    Abstract:
The frescoes of the Church of São Sebastião, in the island of Terceira, were probably painted in the first quarter of the sixteenth century. The paintings in the Epistle side of the church depict scenes from the life of Christ and the Virgin Mary, in five pannels. There are the flagellation of Christ in the Cross; the Annuntiation and the Ascension of the Virgin Mary and other unidentifiable scenes. In the Gospel side there are also five pannels depicting Christ Pantocrator, at the center, and at the left the weighing of souls. The soundtrack for this video is the responsory "O vos omnes, for Holy Saturday, by Portuguese composer Francisco Martins, performed by Ensemble da Sé de Angra (dir. Luís Henriques).
